Implant Dentistry is a rewarding field. Tooth implants have an immediate benefit in one’s quality of life.
Below you will find some general categories for which Dental Implants are utilized to restore missing teeth. Explore the ones that may interest you.
Secure a denture and make it more functional:
Utilizing 2 Implants
Jim is a retired fireman. Family and job came first and he lost teeth early in life. The upper full denture was quite satisfactory, but the lower full denture was increasingly troublesome over the last 10-15 years. The denture is now painful when chewing and will not stay in place.
Due to the advanced bone loss only 2 implants could be placed in the lower anterior jaw. A bar connecting the implants locks it into the lower denture. The bar and implants hold the denture in place and create stable chewing area in the anterior area of the mouth. The drawback to this system is that the molar area of the denture is supported by tissue. There is still a dramatic improvement in comfort, stability and chewing ability with just these two implants.

Utilizing 4 Implants
Richard was a victim of Periodontal Disease (Gum Disease). He slowly lost teeth, going through several lower partial dentures and finally a full denture. From the first day the full denture was placed he wanted something more secure, something he could chew with.
Four implants were placed on the lower. A bar connecting all four implants was made with special attachments to hold the denture on both ends and the middle. The result was a lower denture that locks onto the bar, the entire chewing surface on the lower denture is supported by the bar and bone braced for a strong bite and a denture that will stay in place.

Replace a single missing tooth:
Front Tooth
Tony has had extensive dental work throughout his life, including numerous crowns. An upper front tooth fractured down to the root. Because of the strength of his bite we recommended an implant supported crown rather than a fixed bridge.
A single implant was placed and a crown made for it. The result is a natural looking tooth that adds support for his strong bite.

Back Tooth
Sandi lost this molar from a failed root canal. The adjacent teeth had only small fillings and she choose to have an implant and crown rather than remove the enamel from the adjacent teeth to make a bridge.

Replace several missing teeth or a partial denture with a fixed bridge:
Frank is a retired law enforcement officer that had lost all but two of his lower teeth. His upper denture gave him no problems. However, the lower partial denture was a constant source of discomfort. He wanted “Real Teeth” on the bottom.
Five implants were placed in the lower jaw and a fixed bridge placed utilizing the five implants and the two remaining teeth for support. This gave Frank lower teeth anchored to bone that did not move and looked like natural teeth.

Replace a denture with a fixed bridge:
Clifford is a retired Naval Officer that has all his lower teeth, but is very unhappy wearing a full upper denture. “It is just not comfortable and does not chew as well as I want”.
Eight implants were placed in the upper arch. One implant did not integrate with the bone so seven implants were utilized to support a fixed bridge.
